A time & place
As the silly season is well and truly here, my ageing skin is seriously struggling with the combination of alcohol overload and lack of sleep. At times I'd swear it shares the same hangover as the rest of me! And that's after just one night out! This is when I realised that not all masks are created equal.
With so many products on the market all promising to deliver that fresh, dewy plump look both pre and post party, I have sifted through many over the years and have learnt that all masks are different. Many do work and some very well in fact, but two brands I rely on to get my skin party ready and to rehydrate an utterly parched face afterwards, are Goldfaden MD and Aromatherapy Associates.
I won't bore you with the science (see my review of the brand here for more) but rest assured Goldfaden MD's Fresh A Peal is a supercharged Lactic and Multi-Fruit Enzyme exfoliating peel that delves deep to cleanse dead skin cells and leave you feeling fresh, zinging and rearing to go. Buy online from Panache Cosmetics.
Next comes the hangover phase and here's when Aromatherapy Associates Rose Hydrating Mask never disappoints. I adore Rose in skincare (rose oil is simply fab for dry skin) and when enriched with Aloe vera and Sodium Hyaluronate, (both known for their hydrating benefits) and lots more nourishing essentials, this cooling, transparent mask regenerates, nourishes and completely transforms my parched, lacklustre skin. The overnight repair mask is another option that works away as I sleep. Aromatherapy Associates is widely available now in spas, Space NK and many other retail outlets. See Kate's favourites for a little more on the brand.
So there is a time and a place to benefit from some of the better skincare brands around and once you know what works for you, and very importantly when to use them, then you ensure your skin gets what it needs always. Enjoy the festivities and here's to nourished, hangover-free skin this Christmas and beyond.
