The pick of the crop

The pick of the crop

I'm immensely proud to be Irish. Why wouldn't I, seeped as we are in natural resources - rich and fertile land, fresh bountiful oceans and the tastiest local produce. So, on the eve of St Patrick's weekend, I'm celebrating the best of Irish skincare, brands that are making big waves across our mighty world.

Here's just a couple of my favourites:

Modern Botany

Modern Botany Oil small.jpg

See my recent post here about this suitably natural oil from West Cork, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic coastline. This science-led company ticks all the ethical boxes and the multipurpose oil is overflowing with Flax Seed Oil (hugely nourishing) Calendula (anti-inflammatory), Arnica (damaged skin and bruising) and the ultra soothing Chamomile. You skin, hair and nails will quickly reap with rewards.

Pestle & Mortar

Another goodie, this hip brand is omnipresent here and much further afield. Every good reason too as as the products really do deliver, especially the Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum that soaks into the skin super quickly and their latest arsenal -  Erase & Renew The Double Cleansing System - just try it - your skin will feel fresh and squeaky clean - I promise!

Flora + Fiona

A recent discovery for me, this chic brand was created by Fiona Hedigan, who is as passionate as I am when it comes to skincare and oils! Her carry-on travel oil is my handbag essential - it's antiviral, antibacterial and so soothing, while her flagship facial oil gently feeds and calms the skin.

Voya

This Sligo-based company is overflowing with the freshest and most nourishing seaweed from our own coastline and has been spreading its wings worldwide for some years now. The range is extensive and during my many years living in Asia (18 to be precise!)  Voya was omnipresent in leading hotels and spas through the region - as it is in the US and UK too. Credit to the Walton family and not to forget, our clean air, rich fertile ocean and maybe a little rain too!!

So a very loud shoutout to us Irish whereever in the world we call home & a very happy St Patricks Day
