Celebrating Scent

Celebrating Scent

I'm celebrating National Fragrance Day with an mesmerising blend of Jasmine and Neroli courtesy of RODIN.

RODIN Olio Lusso

When David Seth, a peripatetic musician with a passion for perfume, met Linda Rodin (of Olio Lusso fame who I recently featured here)  this beautiful perfume was born. RODIN was the first collaboration, bis the second, and Rodin 3 is due any moment now.

As with her cult Olio Lusso face oil, Linda Rodin's foray into perfume was pure chance too. “A year into making my face oil, a handsome young man introduced himself, saying he loved my oils. He told me he made perfume so I asked him to make some for me. He did and he still does. We work perfectly together,.” says Rodin. That young man was David Moltz of the Brooklyn-based perfume house D.S. & Durga and RODIN, is a heady mix of gloriously fragrant Jasmine and spicy Neroli, the oils that defined her face oil. I just adore it and the base notes lingers for the day.

I'm not a perfume expert, but here's what the folk at the reputable perfume blog Now Smell This said about RODIN: "The perfume opens rich and strong, and it's mostly jasmine straight through from the beginning to the end. It's brightened with a bit of citrus and tempered with a bit of lily of the valley.

Rodin 3

About to be launched, Rodin 3 by RODIN Olio Lusso is Rodin's personal throwback to her favourite breezy, fresh scents of the 1970s -  think spicy geranium with notes of jasmine grandiflora, ylang-ylang, and orris.

If you are looking for some fragrant inspiration for Mother's Day (this coming Sunday 26th March (in this part of our great world anyway) the London-based The Perfume Society is a fragrant encyclopedia and there perfect resource for gift inspiration.

The following are a few more of my favourites: You won't go wrong with ANYTHING (well almost!) from Galway's own Cloon Keen Atelier,  Jo Loves (as in Jo Malone),  Guerlain (L'heure Bleue is my absolute favourite), Hermes (I adore 24 Faubourg), Tom Ford, Escentric Molecules (Molecule 01 still my fav), Irish-brand Roads (Harmattan tops my list) and of course the iconic Chanel No 5.

Here's to sniffing our way through the day......
